The Vegan Experiment: Days Three and Four

Can't remember where I left off.... but yesterday had FOJ again for lunch and broccoli and black eyed peas for dinner. Attempted a Boca veggie burger. Even after drowning it in ketchup I couldn't finish it. I guess it's an aquired taste. Yuck.

Today- soy Starbucks and Nature whatever bar for breakfast.

Lunch- Today I broke. Went to Let's Do Lunch and they were out of the Roasted Red Bell Pepper soup. So I broke and had a chicken salad sandwich. But I felt odd afterwards, I think because I had made it for a few days as a vegan. Took a few hours to feel right. Oh well.

Back on track at dinner, broccoli and black eyed peas again.

The Vegan Experiment: Days Two and Three

Ok,

So.... Day Two I had my soy Starbucks again. And a banana.

Lunch with Kara Thomas @ Moe's. I can't remember what it was she ordered but I know it had Tofu. I never had tofu before. It was interesting. So long as I sliced it really thin and mixed it good with the pinto beans and rice and corn salsa it was fine. I got one bite with it alone and it was... well, I won't say. It didn't make me throw up at least.

Dinner was green beans once i got home. The Moe's really filled me up. I learned from Kara a lot of things! She sent me a long email with a list of things I can get at the Kroger. I'll copy and paste later.

Day Three-
Soy Starbucks again. A banana. Smart Pop popcorn. Fountain of Juice for lunch- a spinach salad with candied pecans, mandarin oranges, red bell peppers, dried cranberries. Yum! Also got the Anti Oxidant Salad (mandarin oranges, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries). AND got the fudge (dark chocolate, bittersweet chocolate, no milk no eggs). So now I have my chocolate for the week.

The Vegan Experiment: Day One

Okay. So I went to Kroger yesterday and attempted to get some things in preparation for today- Day One of my attempt at a week long experiement with being vegan.

Purchased: Boca vegan burgers, bananas. broccoli, green beans, apples.

Today so far I have been good- although I'm at my parents house now and they are discussing lunch options and tuna fish sounds soooo good right now. So far today I have had a Skinny *Soy* grande cinnamon dolce latte at Starbucks. It was better than with regular milk- I'm thinking because they use a vanilla flavored soy milk. Yum. Also have had a banana.

The wheat crackers I bought have milk in them- so I can't eat them :( I'm going all the way with this!

Meeting fellow M Food writer and blogger Kara Thomas for lunch tomorrow at Moe's- she's the vegan writer and my support system during this journey! Go to her blog: http://foodpulse.blogspot.com/

Lose the Baby Weight NOW: A Food Diary

7-12-10

Weighted myself yesterday- 127. Which is freakin amazing because I have been eating like pure shit lately. Just no other word for it. which my husband was kind enough to also point out to me. (Thanks, hon.)

According to those in my office, I know about all the great food places. This is where I think working for the local food magazine gives me a serious disadvantage. How can I eat “right” when I know of too many good places to go? I think this is why I lost weight when I lived in Athens and Statesboro- I didn’t know the good places to go! Oh well.

I have an idea, to team up with the vegan writer for the magazine and go on a journey together for like a week- to tyr vegan foods with her and let her write about it. See if she can tame the wild, red meat eating cake devouring beast (ie: me). I think I’ll email her today….

Wish me luck!

Yesterday- 7/7/10 and today so far

Yesterday- took Meghan to lunch at Let's Do Lunch. AMAZING! Got the turkey sandwich with the chipolte mayonnaise. And the roasted red bell pepper soup. I almost didn't get the soup but they offered me a taste and it was much better than I expected.

Calorie count? I don't know. Don't want to know.

As for the rest of the day- breakfast- had some cheerios, a coffee, some fruit.

Today so far:

a sugar free Red Bull. Calories: 10, versus the regular Red Bull which has 110. Wow.
